I will put up with a terrible movie if the lead actor is just the right kind of hot.

Exhibit A: That old movie "The Bride" - Not worth seeing, except for...

Exhibit B: Lead actor STING

Holy shit, but Sting, in this otherwise mediocre movie, is the very embodiment of all that is hot in this world. I want to get it on DVD, if only to then cut out every scene in which he doesn't appear, then save the precious remainder in some obscenely high-quality format and just...loop it. Forever.

As a very nice bonus, Cary Elwes (the "As you wish" farmboy guy from Princess Bride) is also his too-gorgeous young self in this movie, too. Can't complain about that.

This picture was, sadly, the best I could find out there of Sting in his role of Dr. Frankenstein.

...for whatever sin I have committed, the connection is back ONCE AGAIN.

What a parade of flaky hardware and bad karma this all has been.

Now if I can just get myself back into my regularly scheduled life, I'll be happy.

So, we thought that replacing the router would clear everything up...imagine our WTFness when, after installing the new router, our connection was still shite, which rapidly deteriorated into utterly non-functional (read: another completely internetless day).

Adelphia guy has spirited away the dead cable modem, having replaced it with a shiny new one. Connection is finally, FINALLY speedy and strong.

Jeez, simultaneous hardware failure. Weird. They say these things happen in threes...but they'd BETTER NOT. >|

I suppose this just illustrates yet again my general allergy to casual social encounters. )

Wellll...

That trailer definitely had the right feel. I'm also impressed by the stills made available on the design-a-poster page. The decay of the town's architecture is faithfully represented and appropriately (if somewhat...cartoonily, though) grungy when the Otherworld is present.

Some spoilers for those who haven't seen the trailer... )

I'm still wary of that story...but we'll see.

Ewww! )

Who wouldn't want to have sex back there? X)

Edit: In fact, you now can, with the help of the pose balls I've put in strategic locations! Woo!

Vile.

It's such an elegant word. It conveys so much, so emphatically yet so silkily, in just one single tiny little syllable.

Vile.

I've always considered the letter V itself, perhaps all due to the word "villain" and maybe also to Vincent Price, to be the most evil letter of the alphabet. You can just see it there, lurking near the end of the string of its 26 unsuspecting brethren, drywashing its little V-points like the bastard you know it is, as it plans the abduction of some innocent vowel.

...

*laughs*

...he's now a Second Life land owner, right next to Heaven's Night (practically) and directly across from the chapel. Now with a screenshot.

From the noises Vincent's been making, chances are good that Brookhaven will be going in next, unless he thinks of something he likes better.

It seems that the Sugarloaf sim is rapidly turning into the home of SL's mini-Silent Hill.

What's especially funny is that the roadside land directly next to Vin's land is now up for sale for $13k Lindens. Any particularly wealthy and/or crazy SH fan want to pick that up and build Pete's Bowl-o-Rama or Texxon or something? X)

It was good! Very entertaining.

Needed much more Snape, though.

Much more.

Apparently, "Walter Sullivan" is currently available as a Second Life name.

Now, if I dug Walter a lot, I'd probably jump on this rare opportunity immediately since SL last names go in and out of rotation frequently...but, ol' Spoon-In-Neck, cute though he is, doesn't float my boat enough for me to justify sitting on his moniker.

Too bad Gein isn't an available last name...

Type "Your Name" and "needs" into Google and post the best five results. (i.e. "Nicky needs" - make sure it's in quotation marks)

  • Nicky needs to step it up.
  • Nicky needs some advice on window dressings.
  • Nicky needs a ride home.
  • Nicky needs to quit with the orange tan.
  • Nicky needs a good home.

Time to remember those who have passed on.

    --

Ed, I miss you. I know you died when I was all of...what...five? Six? But I remember you vividly still. You had your problems, yes, but I loved you very much. I hope I get to see you again one day.

Dad, you had it so hard in those last years. I wish it hadn't happened that way...you deserved a lot better than what you got. I love you, and I'm sorry for many, many things.

Marie...you were a good grandmom. I know it was hard...the Alzheimers and your decline...I'm sorry I wasn't there to say goodbye.

Baby...you lived a long, long time for the runt of the litter. My pewter grey kitty...I wish I could have taken you with me when I had to leave. I missed many of your 16 years...but anytime I visited you, you never forgot me. You were always so happy to see me. I miss you, kitty.

Though I may try, I can but approach the beauty of Konami's original chapel, never attain it.

SH3 is still the best looking game in the series. The detail is insane, even to today's standards.

Historically, October has always been my favorite month; there's always so much to look forward to. The happy would always begin mid-month on my birthday and continue to escalate right up to Halloween, the subsequent Days of the Dead on November 1st and 2nd spent in blissful sugar shock. Hard to believe that the end of October is already here.

The weather has finally cooled to the chilly (well...chilly as far as Califorinia standards go...we're hitting the low 50's now) temperatures I prefer. The leaves are changing into their best yellows, oranges and blazing reds. There are many pumpkins in the house; these will be carved tomorrow while the sun shines. There's candy (which, apart from two pieces, I've heroically avoided) in a plastic pumpkin pail ready to give out. Costumes are being assembled.

Things are feeling pretty decent right now. (Fate, please don't sucker punch me.)

Contributing to this welcome visit of good mood is the fact I got done with a front page mock-up for a website earlier in the night, one of two which will be presented to the client tomorrow. I'm pretty proud of the work I did; while I already see things that could be improved, it came out (IMO of course) very nice looking. My sense of accomplishment, even at this early stage in this particular project (even without knowing if the client will even like it), is pretty high.

Also, there's some BOMB ice cream in the freezer...it's Pillsbury Ice Cream And Cake ice cream. Holy shit, people, this stuff is sheer ambrosia. If you see it, GET IT. Trust me on this.

On the Second Life front, I'm starting up a business in-game in hopes of making the game pay for itself; I'll be creating the merchandise when I have spare time. The virtual "store" -- which is actually a converted portion of the newly-added bedroom -- is pretty bare right now, save for three pieces of my original artwork, the photo-manipulation stuff I did ages ago. (No, I don't intend to sell for any kind of currency any of my Silent Hill related art in-game, nor sell any SH-related stuff at all, for that matter. I really don't care to traverse into that potentially hairy territory.)

    Sun's coming up.

    Time to sleep.

I think my LCD monitor is on the fritz.

Of course it'd choose my birthday to to begin crapping out.

I suppose, though, I should be grateful. I still remember being woken up the morning of my sixteenth birthday by my father with the ever-so-welcome news that my kitty had been hit and killed by a car. Things could be worse.
